Nose Bleeds

If you have had a nose bleed which has now stopped, do not:

If you do, your nose might start bleeding again.

If bleeding starts again:

If the bleeding has not stopped within one hour or you feel unwell, then return to the Emergency Department.

Broken nose

If you have broken your nose, you may require an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist opinion. Please look at your nose in days’ time when the swelling has gone down.

If your nose is shifted to one side following your injury or you have difficulty breathing through your nose, please telephone the ENT clinic at Bradford Royal Infirmary for an outpatient review appointment on:

Help with pain management

Simple analgesics can be used after injury, most of which can be bought over the counter in shops, supermarkets or pharmacy’s. Examples are:

You may have been prescribed an alternative pain killer, please refer to specific advice for that tablet if this is the case.

If you have any ongoing concerns or queries about your nose injury you should contact NHS 111 or your local GP. If your concern is urgent or an emergency attend your local Emergency Department.
